Indian cryptocurrency exchange WazirX has launched a fund recovery plan following a significant cyberattack that resulted in the theft of approximately $230 million. The breach impacted 45% of user funds, prompting WazirX to implement a 55/45 loss distribution approach. Under this plan, users can immediately access 55% of their assets, while the remaining 45% are locked in Tether (USDT)-equivalent tokens. This strategy aims to distribute the loss evenly among all users, ensuring no single group bears a disproportionate burden. WazirX is also offering users two options for managing the locked assets, details of which will be communicated via email. The decision-making process involves a poll that, while not legally binding, will guide the final resolution along with ongoing investigations and the platform's liquidity considerations.
