A church group in Colorado, called the Colorado House of Prayer, has tokenized its $2.5 million chapel in what might be the world’s first tokenized church. The group, led by Pastor Blake Bush, aims to purchase the Old Stone Church, an 11,457-square-foot building with a stone exterior that they’ve been renting. The building was bought by its current owner in 2022 for $2.2 million, and the church plans to acquire it using funds raised through a digital asset called Stone Coin. This real estate token, created in partnership with REtokens and running on the Polymesh blockchain, allows ownership to be split into shares. Bush claims that the idea came to him through divine inspiration and that the project has raised about half of its funding goal so far. Future token sales may even be open to non-parishioners.
