Roman Martinez, co-founder of Bitcoin Beach in El Salvador, mentioned that many Bitcoin enthusiasts are considering relocating to the country due to its favourable Bitcoin policies. At the Bitcoin 2024 conference in Nashville, Martinez highlighted that El Salvador’s adoption of Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, spearheaded by President Nayib Bukele, has attracted individuals and families from the US, Canada, and Europe. These people are seeking a more affordable place to live and raise their families while adhering to a Bitcoin-based economy. Bukele’s administration has been proactive in promoting cryptocurrency, which has led to an influx of interest from those disillusioned with traditional financial systems. The president also announced a program in April offering citizenship pathways for 5,000 foreign workers.
