The City of Santa Monica has recently launched a Bitcoin Office, aiming to position itself as a hub for Bitcoin innovation. This initiative, which was unanimously approved by the city council, is focused on providing education about Bitcoin and identifying economic opportunities that could benefit the local community. The office is working closely with the Proof of Workforce Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to educating workers, unions, and organisations about Bitcoin.In addition to its educational mission, the office plans to host a Bitcoin festival on October 18, 2024. This event, called the "Bitcoin Peer to Pier Festival," will replace the previously planned Pacific Bitcoin Festival, which was cancelled by Swan Bitcoin due to staff reductions.
