Ripple has expanded its collaboration with the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) to enhance the digitization of the local economy. The partnership, announced in June 2024, aims to build on Ripple's role as the technology partner for the NBG's digital lari pilot project, which began in September 2023. Ripple's involvement includes exploring various avenues for advancing financial technology and digitalization in Georgia. This initiative underscores Ripple's broader support for global Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) initiatives, with the firm also engaging in similar projects in countries like Colombia, Bhutan, Palau, and Montenegro.
