NBA star Jimmy Butler and crypto influencer Ben Armstrong, known as "BitBoy," have agreed to pay a combined $340,000 to settle a class-action lawsuit related to their promotion of Binance. The lawsuit, which has been ongoing since March 2023, alleges that they promoted the sale of unregistered securities through the exchange.Butler will pay $300,000, while Armstrong will contribute $40,000 towards the settlement. Both have denied any wrongdoing but chose to settle to avoid the costs and time associated with prolonged litigation. The settlement also implicates other defendants, including Binance, its former CEO Changpeng Zhao, and Paxos Trust Company.The settlement is awaiting preliminary approval from a Miami federal judge​.
