Metallica's official Twitter account was hacked, leading to unauthorised posts promoting a Solana-based token named METAL. The hack occurred on June 26, with posts falsely claiming a partnership with Ticketmaster and involvement from fintech firm MoonPay, which MoonPay later refuted. The token's value surged to $3.37 million shortly after launch but quickly plummeted to $90,000 within hours. Metallica's team regained control and deleted all related posts. The band and its management have not commented on how the breach occurred.
