Nomura's cryptocurrency subsidiary, Laser Digital, has secured a broker licence from Abu Dhabi's Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA) to operate in the Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM), allowing it to offer broker-dealer services and asset management for both digital and traditional assets. This approval follows nine months after Laser Digital received initial approval in September 2023 and reflects the firm's strategic decision to expand into Abu Dhabi due to the region's progressive regulatory environment for crypto assets. The CEO of Laser Digital, Jez Mohideen, emphasised their commitment to adhering to the highest compliance standards and contributing responsibly to the UAE's virtual asset industry, aligning with ADGM's regulatory framework aimed at fostering innovation and collaboration across sectors.
