High-Stakes Trial Begins: Craig Wright's Satoshi Nakamoto Claim Under Scrutiny
Feb 6, 2024
A trial has commenced in a U.K. high court to determine the authenticity of Craig Wright's claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. On the opening day, allegations were made that Wright had forged his proof, while his defence countered that his challengers couldn't provide direct evidence to refute his claims. Craig Wright, an Australian computer scientist, has previously taken legal action against members of the crypto community, including developers, alleging copyright violations. In 2021, the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), supported by influential figures like Twitter founder Jack Dorsey, Coinbase, and Microstrategy, sued Wright, contesting his assertion of being the Bitcoin white paper author. This trial marks a significant legal challenge to Wright's self-proclaimed identity as Satoshi Nakamoto.
