BlackRock Partners with Securitize to Launch Digital Asset Fund for Real-World Asset Tokenization
Mar 20, 2024
BlackRock, the investment management giant, has collaborated with asset tokenization firm Securitize to launch the BlackRock USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund. This fund, registered in the British Virgin Islands, indicates a potential focus on the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). While specific details about the fund's holdings are undisclosed, Securitize's involvement hints at involvement in RWA tokenization, representing ownership of various assets through blockchain-based tokens. This move follows BlackRock's recent ventures into digital asset funds, including the listing of a spot bitcoin (BTC) exchange-traded fund (ETF) and the filing for a spot ether (ETH) ETF. BlackRock's CEO, Larry Fink, emphasised in an interview earlier this year that these ETFs serve as "stepping stones towards tokenization," suggesting a broader shift in investment trends.
