Apple Intelligence AI Upgrade May Miss Initial iOS 18 Launch, Delayed to October
Jul 28, 2024
Apple's anticipated AI upgrade, Apple Intelligence, may not be available with the initial iOS 18 rollout in September as planned. According to a Bloomberg report on July 28, Apple Intelligence could be delayed until October, giving developers more time to address potential bugs. Despite this, Apple plans to release beta versions of iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 starting the week of July 29, which will include early access to Apple Intelligence for developers. The delay is reportedly due to concerns about the stability of Apple Intelligence across devices. Apple Intelligence, developed in partnership with OpenAI, will integrate a version of ChatGPT with features like an enhanced Siri, text and audio summarization, and custom graphic generation. However, Elon Musk has threatened to ban Apple devices at his companies if Apple integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its operating systems, citing security concerns.
