During a recent debate in the U.K. Parliament, lawmakers emphasised the need for increased investment in digital skills to meet the growing demand in sectors like crypto, blockchain, and artificial intelligence (AI). MP Lisa Cameron chaired the discussion, highlighting the importance of integrating digital skills into education and workplace training to ensure the country can capitalise on the opportunities presented by the digital economy. The U.K. government has expressed its desire to establish the country as a crypto hub, having passed legislation recognizing crypto as a regulated activity, with further regulations for stablecoins and other crypto activities in progress. Despite these steps, Cameron stressed the ongoing challenge of finding skilled workers in the digital sector and called for greater collaboration with blockchain companies like Ripple, Circle, and Tether to address digital skills gaps. U.K. Minister for Skills Luke Hall acknowledged the significant economic impact of these skills gaps, estimated at £63 billion ($79 billion) annually.
