The Sandbox Launches The Sandbox DAO, Empowering Community Governance with 25M SAND Treasury

The Sandbox, a decentralised gaming platform, has launched its decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO), The Sandbox DAO, aimed at enhancing transparency and community involvement. With a treasury of 25 million SAND tokens, the DAO will allow SAND and LAND (virtual land NFT) owners to participate in governance by voting on platform projects and proposing improvements through Sandbox Improvement Proposals (SIPs). The DAO's implementation will occur in three phases, starting with community voting on SIPs while The Sandbox staff manages some operations in phase one. Phase two will transition to self-reliance for the DAO, disentangling from the parent company, and phase three aims for full community-driven governance. The Sandbox has also established a leadership team consisting of a council and advisers to guide the DAO's development, with council members including Sebastien Borget, Yat Siu, Shannon Snow, and Jean-Michel Pailhon. Community members owning five SAND or one LAND can vote on foundational proposals to kickstart the DAO's operations.
