Tigran Gambaryan, a Binance executive detained in Nigeria since February, will reportedly remain in custody until a bail hearing on May 17. Gambaryan, along with fellow Binance executive Nadeem Anjarwalla, was detained by Nigerian authorities amid allegations of tax evasion and money laundering. Gambaryan has pleaded not guilty to the charges, with his trial scheduled for May 2. Anjarwalla reportedly escaped custody in March and may face extradition from Kenya to Nigeria. Critics have questioned the merit of the charges against Gambaryan, with Binance stating he had no decision-making power in the firm. Meanwhile, a petition launched by Gambaryan's wife seeks his return to the United States, garnering nearly 4,000 signatures as of April 23. In a separate case, former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao is awaiting sentencing on April 30 after pleading guilty to failure to maintain an Anti-Money Laundering program while leading the exchange, potentially facing up to 10 years in prison.
